Aen. I, 94 — parallels and allusions
Abstract
The article deals with Aen. I, 94 that alludes to "Iliad" (V, 306–307). Vergil has coupled ter and quarter by a double -que and used an archaic secondary trochaic caesure in the 4 foot which led to fortunate results: the line became a unique and a recognizable one. In the second part of the paper the author discusses imitations of Aen. I, 94 by Seneca, Silius Italicus, Sidonius, and Macrobius.
